SUSTAINABILITY & ENERGY
Sustainability at Casa Khnum is not a technical choice it is an ethical foundation. Every aspect of the project was designed to coexist with the rhythms of nature, embracing the light, the wind, and the silence of Puerto Escondido as living components of the architecture.
The entire property operates on solar energy, generated through a high-efficiency photovoltaic system that powers all spaces, from the suites and kitchen to the pool filtration and lighting design. The system is supported by a set of advanced lithium batteries, ensuring uninterrupted operation even during power outages preserving comfort, tranquility, and self-sufficiency at all times.
Thermal efficiency was a central principle in the design. The orientation of the building, the depth of overhangs, and the use of cross ventilation allow the interiors to remain fresh throughout the day, reducing dependence on air conditioning and maintaining a constant natural equilibrium. The materials stone, wood, clay, and lime-based stucco were locally sourced, reducing the carbon footprint while supporting regional craftsmanship.
Water is also treated as a sacred resource. Casa Khnum features a rainwater collection system and a natural filtration process that provides pure, drinkable water throughout the property. The pool uses an ecological filtration method that minimizes chemical use, respecting both the environment and the human body.
Lighting was designed with purpose warm LED systems that follow the natural cycle of daylight and preserve the nocturnal atmosphere of the surrounding landscape. Every lumen, every watt, every drop of water was thought of as part of a living ecosystem, where sustainability and luxury are not opposites but reflections of the same consciousness.
“At Casa Khnum, energy is silent drawn from the sun, stored in light, and returned to life.”
